Suggest Treatment For Wheezing Caused By Inhalation Of Dust

Posted on Fri, 13 Feb 2015
Question: I recently moved into a new home 5 days ago. The floors were coated w/oil based poly 3x approxiamtely 3-5 days prior, and the fumes were pretty strong. My wife seems to be fine, but I have been wheezing for 4 days now. The doctor thought I had a URI and prescribed Levequin, MethylPrednisone, and an inhaler. It's been 3 days, and I'm still wheezing (mostly when I exhale). I do have allergies, and have mild asthma. Can this be from the fumes, dust, etc?

Brief Answer:
this can be due to fumes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
Yes,it can be due to dust and fumes.
Since you are known case of asthma, I think your symptoms are suggestive of worsening of asthma due to continuous allergen exposure.
The allergens are many but the common ones are
1. Dust
2. Chemical fumes
3. Pollens.
4. Animal fur etc.
So your present symptoms are suggestive of worsening of underlying asthma mostly due to oil fumes and dust.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
