Question: Hi, I am been prescribed Symbicort Inhaler for 2 weeks with 2 puffs morning and evening as doctor detected wheezing sound from my lungs due to hay fever. I don't have ashtama. Now he has reduced the dosage to 1 puff morning and evening for 2 weeks. I am already one week into it. However I have gained weight and body feels bloated and face puffed. I want to stop it as I feel ok now. How do I go about stopping it. If I stop suddenly will I experience any withdrawal symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Weight gain may not be due to symbicort.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting your query on HCM..

Your symptoms are suggestive of allergy and they appear to be well controlled.

The weight gain does not appear to be because of your inhaler as the steroid content in it is in very minute quantity and you have hardly taken it for just over 2 weeks.

You may now take I or 2 puffs on alternate days for 1 week, then 2 puffs ever 2 to 3 days for 1 week and then stop.

Like this there shouldn't be any withdrawal symptoms.
