Brief Answer:
Whiplash injury

Detailed Answer:
Good afternoon. Thank you for your question. My name is Dr. Saghafi and I'm an adult neurologist. You have only presented information to say your boyfriend has sustained a whiplash injury.

Therefore, an opinion on exactly what has happened aside from the fact that I assume he has neck pain is not possible to make. You did not specify what the chiropractor has done or in what way your boyfriend's problem is worsened.

Generally speaking whiplash injuries have been shown to be self limited which means they will get better on their own over time. That being said- in the interim there certainly can be pain and limitations in movement as well as inability to properly function on the job and so forth.

Therefore, it would be of benefit to see someone who can address these issues. As a neurologist, my experience with my patients who have had chiropractic manipulations for these types of injuries is that they tend not to get better and in some instances may even do better with more conservative therapy such as Ultrasound/diathermy, neck exercises according to his ability to range the neck, and then, long terms exercises that will help strengthen neck, shoulder, and back muscles.

I believe either an orthopedic doctor who specializes in neck injuries or a sports medicine doctor would be on my list of choices for getting him to a new provider.

I hope this answer satisfactorily addresses your question. If so, may I ask your favor of a HIGH STAR RATING with some written feedback?

Also, if there are no other questions or comments, I'd appreciate it greatly if you would CLOSE THE QUERY on your end so this question can be transacted and archived for further reference by colleagues as necessary.
