default
Posted on Wed, 7 Oct 2015
Question: I tried dip for the first time and put it on the center on my lip. I left it there for about an hour. Today i have a white lesion on the inside of my right cheek which is weird because i did not put the chewing tobacco there and there are little tiny white dots. My face felt kinda numb earlier but now is okay. Can you get oral cancer from only dipping once? Im so nervous please hep.

Brief Answer:
Tobacco pouch keratosis, chemical burn, quit the habit

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
As far as the white spots or patch is concerned, it can be because of the placement of the tobacco. This is called tobacco pouch keratosis. The other possible cause can be a chemical burn secondary to placement of tobacco. Nothing to be panic, it cannot be a cancerous lesion. If you continue the habit of tobacco use, then it might result in cancerous lesion. Consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. Mean while you quit the habit of using tobacco. You can use antioxidants like vitamin A and beta carotene which reduces the white patches.
If possible upload the images, so that I can give you better diagnosis.
I hope I have answered your query. If any queries are there reply me back. Take care.
