Suggest Treatment For Whites Patches Around The Mouth

Question: ctor, my name is XXXX. I noticed 2 weeks ago 2 whites patches around my mouth (left and right side). The color is not very white but it's pale and lighter than my skin color. M using elocom cream since 2 weeks twice per day but no improvement. And I can see that the patch is spreading. M afraid it's vitiligo, because we have it in the family. I live in XXXXXXX and dr here do not have good qualifications, but they told me its pitiriasis XXXXXXX not vitiligo. I don't feel good about it, and seriously anxious and depressed. Please help me to find an answer. Is it possible to send you some pictures? So u can see the situation clearly?

Hello, thank you for ur response.
I started to have itchiness over the patches after using the elocom cream, before no.
I dont have any other patch on any part of my body exept 2 patches on my face.
I can only download 2 pictures, please advice if its not clear.

Hello Dear,

Thanks for sending those images. I have reviewed them.

In my opinion, they are more likely suggestive of PITYRIASIS XXXXXXX which occurs commonly on the face and presents as dry, scaly, pale patches.

INVESTIGATION: Wood Lamp's Light examination is required for confirmation of the diagnosis. It can be done after consultation with Dermatologist.

TREATMENT: They are self-limiting and DON'T required specific treatment. They will go away automatically with the time period. Overuse of steroid is harmful on the face. Just use a good moisturizer or emollient cream and SUN protection.

Weak steroid like 1% Hydrocortisone cream or Tacrolimus ointment 0.1% can be given in few percentage cases for quick re-pigmentation. For that, you should consult with dermatologist.
