Question : I was given a scopolamine patch yesterday for wrist surgery. I took it off a few minutes ago, about 30 hours after applying it. I'm dizzy with a horribly dry mouth and just now read that scopolamine can have terrible withdrawal side effects, with nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. I have meclazine, phenergan, and zofran, Should I take one of these to prevent withdrawal symptoms?
Brief Answer:
yes,you can take Meclizine or Zofran
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I read carefully your query and I am sorry you are going through this.
The symptoms you are having are due to Scopolamine withdrawal.
The good thing is that you wore the patch only for 30 h,which is a short period of time and the withdrawal symptoms tend to be mild and last up to few days.
You can take Meclizine 25 mg once a day or Zofran 4 mg and stay hydrated.
Hope it helps.
Let me know if you need further help.
Kind regards,
Dr.Rovena Murati
