It is possible to have withdrawal symptoms if Ritalin is abruptly discontinued. Some people have more than others. Symptoms usually start within 24 hours after discontinuation.
The main symptoms are agitation nervousness and irritability. People can also have nausea, feel very tired, rapid heart rate, and some can have depression and disturbed sleep.
Although it is highly individualized, side effects can last a few days to a few months. More commonly though, side effects are most severe in the first few days and are over by 1 month.
