Suggest Treatment For Yeast Infection And Lumps In The Vaginal Area

default
Posted on Wed, 16 Nov 2016
Question: I had an emergency appendectomy on Sept 9 - since then I have contracted a yeast infection which is being treated by a topical cream - Nystatin- Triamcinolone cream and oral medication Fluconazole Tablet 150 mg - took one Monday - will take next today - Thursday - itching from yeast much better - question - at same time of yeast infection small lumps appeared in vaginal area - more on outside - they swell up - then drain - this seems to be getting better but is it different than yeast infection? My doctor did not seems that concerned about it - just said not to express them - could cause boil - and he said to soak in cool water - question - is current treatment plan enough and are lumps part of yeast infection or something else?

Brief Answer:
Possible folicullitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM to post your question.
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

As I am understanding from your description it looks like the lumps are with pus/liquid inside.

They are most probably some type of folicullitis which is the inflamation of the hair folicle. So that is common to happen in these areas where there is hair and expecially in the inguinal area where there is more bacteria. They are not a part of fungal infection. Yes, soaking with warm water will help them organise in one spot and get drained by itself and heal. But if you see a lot of them, if they are bigger then 1 cm, or if they are not draining, then you ahould see a doctor because you will need oral antibiotics.

Hope this is helpful.
