Question : I nor my wife have any symptoms of herpes but she does have occasional yeast infection, and I had one bump on my scrotum that I squeezed and it was more like a wart. It eventually went away and I haven't had one since....that was over two years ago. I have never had any blisters on my groin area and neither has my wife. We have been married for 35 years and have been faithful. I don't see any need for a herpes test, but just was reading that it could lay dormant for many years before it shows up. What are your thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Less likely to be herpes infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I went through your query and understood your concerns.

Yeast infection is not related to herpes infection. It is more common among where hygiene is poor, or presence of glucose in urine- diabetes. Better to get her tested for Blood glucose level and she should take treatment course completely for yeast infection.

Warts are due to viral infection of skin, not specific for herpes infection.
Herpes infection of genital region has peculiar presentation. it can remain dormant. but for first time it will have peculiar symptoms of pain, blisters and discharge. With your description of symptoms it is less likely a herpes infection.

For repeated yeast infection, better get your wife tested and treated accordingly.

Hope I answered your query. feel free to ask further related query.

Thank you for your answer. I do wonder if the herpes virus can not show any symptoms for 25-30 years but yet be infected in a human.

Brief Answer:
Very unlikely to stay dormant for 25 years

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks follow up query.

It is very unlikely for herpes staying dormant for such a long period in genital region. More over immediately after infection symptoms will appear with in a week. after first time symptoms it can remain dormant.

Hope I answered your query.
