Question: I gave birth to my son 4 days ago and due to fetal heart complications I received a episiotomy. This appears to be healing well but have discovered this evening I have threadworms. I am aware of the need for strict personal hygiene and will make an appointment for medication first thing in the morning but what action can I take now to stop the irritation of an already swollen and sore area?

Brief Answer:
What makes you think it is thread worm?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

Congratulations on the safe delivery. Hope the baby is doing amazingly well.

Thread worms affect the digestive tract. I am curious to know how you came to this conclusion as it has nothing to do with the vaginal.

For a swollen and tender area, taking pain medications would be of great relief. If it is the vaginal, sitz bath with salted water or an antispetic would help with the pains and swelling. Washing the hands as often as you can is the best way to prevent infection transmission.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
