Question : I ended a 3 day Picato treatment for my face 2 days ago and have extreme itching, flaking and dryness on my upper lip which is where my doctor told me to concentrate the gel. I am having difficulty opening my mouth because it feels as if my skin is splitting. Is there any creme which I could use to help with itchiness and dryness?

Irritant dermatitis

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic
I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query and I have understood it.
With Picato gel (Ingenol mebutate) irritations of the application site are very common. This includes redness, scaling, crusting, pain, pruritus etc.
I would suggest that you use a moderately potent topical steroid e.g fluticasone propionate for a few days. That should make it fine.

Is there an over the counter topical steroid? Can you give me a common name for this creme?

Irritant dermatitis, topical steroid
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
GlaxoSmithKline markets fluticasone propionate by the name of 'Flovent cream' in USA and Canada. It is also available by another name: 'Cutivate cream'.
In my country (India) it is marketed by the name of 'Flutivate cream'. I don't know whether you will get it OTC in your country.
Another topical steroid which is milder as compared to fluticasone propionate and therefore will take longer to be effective is Hydrocortisone. It should be available OTC, but try and get Fluticasone propionate preferably.
