Have you encountered polydipsia in males on second generation antipsychotics?
Yes it is
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
Polydipsia and polyurea are occasionally reported side effects with second generation antipsychotics especially with clozapine and olanzapine. But what i want to bring to your notice is that schizophrenics, even when not on treatment will have polydipsia and polyurea frequently and it is supposed to be a disorgazed behavior symptom component of schizophrenia per se. Not to blame the drugs.
Nonethless the organic causes behind the polurea needs to be evalutaed. He need to undergo a urine routine microscopy, culture sensitivity, urine protein and a urine specific gravity test. Also the total urine in a day maybbe asseseed to get a picture on the amount of output than the frequency. A renal ultrasound may also be done if the tests come negative.
Tolvapton is a good drug for such polyrea associatiated symptom. But as i said, he needs ti be investigated first.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
