Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thank you writing back in healthcaremagic.
Usually the recommendations are that we should do the flu vaccination before we get the flu.The flu vaccination needs at least 2 weeks to create antibodies on our body.
You should know that if a person is sick when he has done the vaccination,
his immune system is already hard at work trying to fight the germs that have caused that illness and it will be harder for his body to develop antibodies to the flu virus at the same time.
Maybe your friend has a cold and having a cold is not necessarily a reason to avoid getting the flu shot . For the most part, common cold symptoms do not prevent the patient from getting a flu vaccine. A cough, congestion, headache, and sore throat will not affect the body's response to the vaccine.
I hope my answer helps you.
