Suggest Vitamin D3 Dosage Inspite Of Having Single Kidney

Question : I am taking 6,000 IUs of Vitamin D3. Do you think this is too high? What side effects and what do you recommend? Do you consider having only 1 kidney "kidney disease"? Lots of strange things are going on with me -- mass hair loss, excessive weight gain, tired all the time, mind sometimes confused. I also take Clonazepam for anxiety. Thank you. XXXXXXX Beidler

Brief Answer: Yes. The dosage is correct. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for posting your query. The usual dosage of vitamin D3 is 60000IU once a week. The tablet is best if taken with milk. The dosage you are taking is not very high. Please do not worry. Having a single kidney is not considered as a disease. The other kidney hypertrophies and compensates for the loss of one kidney. The symptoms that you are having can be due to vitamin D3 deficiency. These will improve gradually. A metabolic imbalance also needs to be ruled out after investigations.
