Question : Hello doc! I am 3-4 weeks pregnant but I do not want to keep the baby for some personal reasons. Also, I think I have Hyperemesis Gravidarum (Severe Nausea and Vomiting During pregnancy) due to which I am unable to eat anything. I have already puked upto 5 times since morning. Also, I will be visiting my clinic tomorrow and seek for an abortion medically. But I just came across one article in which a women suffered from HG and she had to stay in the hospital ward for 5 days for her medical abortion. So I was just concerned that do I have to stay in the hospital for more days even in a medical abortion or it can be treated from home by taking medicines?

                                    Brief Answer:
Can be done with medicines.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Abortion at 3-4 weeks can be done with the help of medicines that can be administered at home under the guidance of your gynecologist. It does need an indoor admission for 4-5 days. It is done as a day care procedure under sedation or short anaesthesia even if surgical abortion or D&C is needed. Please do not worry. The chances of any complications are less than 5%.
