One doctor replied to my first question: that i am probably pre-diabetic; another doctor thinks i am not pre-diabetic.
I am happy to try to answer any detailed questions you may have which will aid in achieving an accurate diagnosis, etc.
there are certain criteria for the diagnosis
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
prediabetes means that either your fasting or your post-prandial glucose levels rise to higher than normal values but not enough to diagnose diabetes mellitus. To be more specific, anything more than 100mg/dL (and lower than 126mg/dL) means pre-diabetes in fasting glucose measurements. 140-199mg/dL means pre-diabetes in 2-hour post-prandial measurements or in the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). If you've done an OGTT and you have more than 200mg/dL 2 hours after drinking the glucose drink then you've got diabetes.
In order to slow down the metabolic consequences you've got to do the following:
- maintain a healthy body weight.
- adopt a healthy diet, avoiding food that makes you fat (particularly saturated trans-fat), eating enough fiber.
- increasing your physical activity. Since you're 76 you should consult your cardiologist for anything else besides walking.
Unfortunately there is no drug indicated to slow down diabetes.

Kind Regards!
