Question: I am planning for a baby and would like to hear the Do's and Don'ts.
I am a working woman and travel by two wheeler to office daily and follow a healthy diet. I am married since 18 months and I had a miscarriage in August 2015 (in the 6th week). So now I don't want any complications so want to have a safe pregnancy this time. Also please suggest me are there any medical tests I should undergo in advance? and is there a necessity to be checked for the anitibodies?

Please guide your valuable opinion and suggest me the Do's and Don'ts to have a safe pregnancy.

Brief Answer:
advised for safe pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM for an opinion,
Its good to learn that you intend to be informed about safe pregnancy and hence would like to state that a single miscarriage at 6 weeks doesn't call for any investigations as per protocol. As you had no issues conceiving earlier, so if you are menstruating regularly then you can conceive naturally. You should be started on folic acid 5MG TABS DAILY HENCE as you plan , ideally 3 months prior to date of conception to prevent any congenital anomalies. Please get thyroid profile and prolactin levels and serum testosterone levels done / PCOD profile to rule out any deficient or low quality ovulation chances.
However thrombophilia screening is not indicated with just single miscarriage, but the cause should kept in mind while evaluation.
In first trimester, intercourse is to be avoided and bumpy rides in auto to be avoided just to decrease chances of miscarriage and you can be placed on progesterone support once foetal heart beat shall be confirmed.
Demux and lacilactone or any anti epileptic drugs or anti-acne drugs should be stopped 3 months prior to planned conception.
