I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that high blood pressure can be related to different disorders, including an infection, inflammation, thyroid dysfunction, kidney or liver disease, chronic anemia, etc..

So, it is important performing some tests to investigate for the possible underlying causes.

The fact that he has back pain and dark urine can be indicative of an urinary tract infection.

That is why I would recommend consulting with his doctor and performing some tests:

- an abdominal ultrasound to examine his kidneys
- complete blood count
- kidney and liver function tests
- blood electrolytes
- PCR, ESR
- fasting glucose
- thyroid hormone levels
- a urine analysis
- a urine bacterial culture.

If any of the above causes is found, it should be treated properly in order to help normalize his blood pressure values.

Otherwise, if all the tests result normal, anti-hypertensive treatment should be started.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
