Suggest Ways To Deal With A Broken And Emotional Abusive Relationship

Question: Hi, I would like to speak with a psychologist about a relationship problem. The guy I am dating gave me the silent treatment this week and I feel terrible. I need some advice. Feeling very lonely and sad. XXXXXXX

sorry, I will explain more, I've been dating a 45 year old man since July. Last Friday we went out and we went back to his place. I told him I was still a virgin because things were moving quickly. Since then, he has been quiet and cold this entire week. He just texted me on Monday to tell me he was busy and he didn't make plans w/ me, which he usually does. Then on Thursday, I asked him if things were over now, because I am a virgin, and he said no, but that he was caught off guard and needs to think. My question is, is her just stalling to find a nice way to break it off w/ me? How much thinking does one need to do about this? I feel you either like someone or you don't. I wouldn't need to think about it. Should I end my misery, and just break it off myself or keep letting this drag out until he is done thinking? I felt tortured and punished this week by his silence and coldness. I cried myself to sleep a couple nights.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I'm sure it is upsetting.

It sounds like this man is only interested in sex, and is not interested in getting to know you at all. You deserve better than him -- someone who will want to know you and care for you, rather than just have sex with you. I recommend breaking things off now, and finding someone who will want to get to know you and appreciate you for who you are.
