Brief Answer:
the exact opposite applies!

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

of course you can loose body weight with surgery but I would advise you to attempt the conservative measures first. Actually loosing weight might help with sleep apnea! Obesity is one of the causes of sleep apnea and even if it's not the cause in your case, loosing weight will definitely help!

I hope you find my comments helpful!

Oh no no i understand. I don't want surgery nor do i need it i was just interested! So regardless of cortisol levels due to sleep apnea i can lose weight naturally with no problem?

Brief Answer:
there is no real problem

Detailed Answer:
There are conflicting data regarding cortisol levels and their relation to sleep apnea treatment. Bariatric surgery will cause weight reduction because the patient cannot consume the same amount of calories the patient used to or the absorption (by the gastrointestinal system) is impaired by surgery so that many nutrients leave the body without being absorbed. Weight loss will be achieved with surgery. Also please note that sleep apnea may (and in many cases will) get better after loosing weight.

If you've got untreated Cushing's syndrome then there might be some difficulties but for an otherwise normal individual with sleep apnea and obesity there should be no problem.

Kind Regards!
