Brief Answer:
Calculate how many calories you eat every day

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

When losing weight its all about the balance of how many calories you take and how many you spend.
Depending on your age you may find online a basal metabolism calculator which is the calories that your metabolism spends without doing any movement. In general it is around 2100 calories per day.
If you eat around 1400 calories and so you save 700 calories, it means around 3500 calories per week which is a total of 2 Ibs of weight loss per week.

You can use Myfitness pal or any other application to calculate your daily calories.
Also, if you walk or do any activity, these will be added to the number of calories you have lost and so in that day you can eat more and lose the same amount of weight.

Combining the exercises (as much as you can) and also the control of food calories, you will be able to be aware of how much you can lose or gain weight.

Hope this is helpful and makes sense.

your answer about calories was very good. I admit it shed another light on the weight problem . I really did not think about it that way. I will try to calculate calories eaten and also try to be more active.
