Detailed Answer:
Thank you very much indeed for your question.

As I said previously, the way you describe your symptoms, I don't think this is OCD, nor related to fluoxetine, but rather a situational period of distorted thoughts related to one man. Your compulsion to ask questions I am interested in -- could you give me some examples of these questions you are asking? This will aid me further in diagnosis. I think the answer to your problem is to do therapy with a psychiatrist, to better understand your thoughts about this man and why you feel the need to ask questions. I would be happy to do therapy here and now with you on this website if you do not have a therapist in your area.

One of the questions is This guy was standing next to a girl I know I knoe his hand was behind her on a rail with other people around, but I started assuming that suppose his han was around her or he was touching her on her shoulfer or back or any possible assumptions that would cause me to worry about. In my mind all these questions came up as if I want to ask her , but it seems ridiculous and embarrassing to me. Many years ago this sort of thing happened to me but I got out of it because I had nothing to do with him. It is the same now but icannot seem to get out of this type of questionings, more so now that he was married and has died
it should be easier to discard all of this. Other guys came in my way, it was the same thing happening, but I let them go and questionings left.I do not know what is wrong eith this past one .Is it a spell or something.
Please advise
With thanks

PS. This happenings spread to others like my motherand my XXXXXXX znd anyone

Thank you for your reply. Isn't the urge to ask
questions(some of which I asked with anxiety) is a compulsion because I get anxious when I think of asking the questions.
I am on 10mg lexapro that I started about 6 days ago.A few months ago I stopped the fluoxetine because there was a recall on fluoxetine. Before the recall Iwas on60
before that(before the problem started) I was on 40.
Whatevever you advise I will suggest it to my pscychiatrist.I have to contact her in a month' time to let her know how I am going.
Thank you very much,

Okay, this extra information is very helpful. It sounds like you are indeed having obsessive thoughts that are making you anxious. While this is not OCD exactly, because you are not describing clear compulsions, it is very close to it. Can I ask the dose of fluoxetine you are currently taking? These thoughts could be treated with a high dose of fluoxetine, with or without augmentation with an atypical neuroleptic such as risperidone.

Detailed Answer:
You can think of the urge to ask questions as very similar to a compulsion, yes. It isn't a classic compulsion such as checking locks or washing hands, but I would still treat you for OCD. Treatment for OCD with Lexapro means increasing to Lexapro's maximum dose, 20mg daily, which I would suggest to your psychiatrist when you see her next. You can also consider adding low-dose risperidone, 0.5mg nightly, if maximum-dose Lexapro for a full trial of 8 weeks is not working.

Do you have any further questions for me? I would be happy to continue talking with you.

Very much thanks for your reply.
I think of letting you know that at the age of 16 I was studying gor an exam.
Afterwards I fell ill with a lot of headaches and neckaches, then I was walking through the front yard when I was feeling better Suddenly a terrible fear of dying came over me.
The doctor gave me sleeping pills and never diagnosed the illness.I ised to sit and pine over thi all day. However igot through with my exam. One day I remember worrying so much that I felt iwas going to black out,I actually seeing 'dark' . My mother prayed and I was okSince then my life changed.
Iwas studying at University of Toronto (I was 30yrs. Old) . I came home and before I ate all sorts of uncontrollable, negative words started bombarding my mind especially of love ones. It was scary. I kept saying God guides and safeguards, just to distract these things. It seems as though ehen Iam under stress , I am vulnerable.
Howevever through faith and some medication, like xanax, I feel better.
It is only about 6 years I have been seeing a psychiatrist. Maybe I should have done this long before now.Well that is some of my experiences in life.
Thank you

Thank you for sharing more of your life story with me.

Those are incredibly scary experiences. They sound like panic attacks to me, which create some of the most uncomfortable feelings in the world. It makes sense that you would try anything to avoid those feelings, including these ritualistic things like God guides and safeguards.

It is good that you have found your way to a psychiatrist who cares about you. We can certainly do things to help these feelings. Medication is important, but also talking about these unpleasant experiences can help you process them and hopefully feel less negative. Lots of people have these experiences and do get better.
