Brief Answer:
It is better to take hCG under surveillance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

In PCOD, due to the possibility of the deficiency of the corpus luteum, it becomes necessary to supplement progesterone until placental function initiates at 14-16 weeks. Simultaneously, hCG is given to add to the effect. This does not cause any harm as both are the natural hormones found in the body during pregnancy.

Since your wife had started the injections of hCG, it is advisable that she continues to take them until placenta takes over the function of maintenance of the pregnancy. Please ask your consultant about the medication and request for a prescription.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
