Question : My father G P XXXXXXX with age 49 years met with a road accident on bike. This was happened one year ago. He went through L4 and L5 surgery. A nerve was partially cut and and the body below the waist is not having any sense. He is also not having control over urine. Physiotherapists served him by doing physiotherapy all these months. He is feeing little better than before but he was not able to stand even with the support of the stand. So I would like to know about how much time would it take to cure. Is there a chance for him to stand or not. If any more details are required. Please ask us so that we can be accurate about his health.

I have noted the clinical details and discharge summary report of your father.
Unfortunately, his spinal cord got damaged in an accident, and it resulted in paralysis of both legs, loss of sensations in legs and lack of urine control.
Surgery was done, however, it got delayed due to high BP. This was unfortunate, as early surgery would have helped him more.
Now also, we can expect slow recovery with physiotherapy and exercises. There is no fixed time limit but the maximum recovery occurs within the first two years after injury. Also, complete recovery usually does not occur.
