Eat your food slowly.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
To avoid air ingestion you should take your food in small bites, avoid having hot and spicy foods and chew the food properly with your mouth closed.
Eating hurriedly without chewing properly and eating a partially cooked food also cause more gas ingestion.
Other causes of air swallowing include -
1. Fast eating or drinking
2. Mouth breathing
3. Nasal blockage
4. Hyperventilation related to anxiety
5. Regular gum chewing
Take the following steps to help manage your symptoms:
1. Increase the amount of fluid you drink, especially water. Avoid carbonated drinks and alcoholic beverages.
2. Avoid foods that cause gas, such as beans, broccoli, cabbage, and XXXXXXX The amount of gas that different foods cause varies from person to person.
3. Avoid swallowing air. Swallowing air may increase your symptoms.
4. Eat slowly. Avoid gulping food or beverages. When you rush through meals or eat on the run, you are more likely to swallow air.
5. Chew your food thoroughly before you swallow.
6. Avoid drinking through a straw.
7. Avoid chewing gum or eating hard candy.
8. Do not smoke or use other tobacco products.
9. Keep calm. Tension and anxiety can cause you to swallow air.

It causes air swallowing.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Nasal blockage is one of the common causes of swallowing air. Sinus congestion is most commonly due to allergies and infections (either viral like the cold or flu OR bacterial).
TREATMENT: (1) the use of enough fluids would help to reduce the viscosity (thickness ) of any secretions in the sinus and nasal passages so that they can be easily expelled
(2)an antihistamine combined with a decongestant would relieve the congestion and stuffy sensation. These are available over the counter. Examples are sudafed, actifed, advil cold and sinus
(3)warm compresses to the face would help increase drainage and reduce pain. This can be done for 5 to 10 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day
(4)steam inhalation 2 to 4 times a day may also be helpful. For added effect aromatic agents such as metholated crystals can be used in the water
(5) some persons find that irrigation of the nasal passages with saline is also useful.
Do consult an ENT specialist in case the probelm is persistent.
