Question : Hi, I am taking 25mg Atenolol per day and have found that since taking then I have had confusion & alertness problems. How can I avoid these problems? At present I am skipping one day per week. I would prefer to stop taking them. How can I do that?
Brief Answer:
You should tapper it.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
You can stop talking Atenolol by gradually lowering the dose (tapper it) in order to avoid possible withdrawal adverse effects.
You can lower the dose by half tablet every two weeks for example. ( 12.5 mg for two weeks, 6 mg for another two weeks, then stop).
It is also necessary to discuss with your Doctor about substituting Atenolol with other drugs.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
