Question: Hi, I'm a 28 years old lady, ht 153 cm, wt 53kg. I don't have any medical history. I had my last periods on October 21st, did a home pregnancy test on November 18th and had a positive result. Went to a gynaecologist nearby and she confirmed my pregnancy by looking at the home pregnancy test result and asked to scan by 26th November. However, it was totally unplanned and we are not ready to have a baby right now. Can you advise me if it is safe to try for natural abortion methods at home at this stage? If so, which all methods can i opt for? Is having pineapple juice/papaya juice effective? Would it affect my future pregnancy? Please help.

Brief Answer:
No home remedies are available.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
For an unplanned pregnancy medical abortion is possible till 7 weeks of gestation. But the home remedies are not an effective way to cause complete abortion.
You should never try to abort at home because it may sometimes leads to severe bleeding, retained product of conception and infection.
In my opinion you should go and consult an expert or a doctor for your problem. You can take abortion pills as prescribed by your doctor. You should go for repeat ultrasonography after 10 days of taking abortion pills to confirm that complete abortion has taken place. Believe me my advice is for your betterment.
It usually does not affect the future pregnancies.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.

Thank you Doctor. I don't want it be known as a planned abortion. So, if i opt for medical abortion, will it be known to my husband that it was planned by me and done?

Brief Answer:
If you don't tell him it is difficult to detect.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If you ask for a medical abortion the doctor will ask for consent of your husband. You can tell that you have consulted with your husband and he also wants the same. After taking the medicines the bleeding can look like a spontaneous abortion to a non medico person.
Hope my answer is helpful.
