Suggest Ways To Wean Off Effexor
Question: Hi, I am withdrawing off Efexor and want to know if the brain type flicks and shock feelings will go away and that it is not causing any permanent damage. Maybe this drug is handed out too easily and we could have a much better way of helping us people with anxiety or depression rather than drugs, some must be too dangerous to take

it is not advisable to abruptly stop Efexor(Effexor-venlaflaxin is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors) as it may lead to rebound mood changes, even though it will nopt cause permanent damage. The other associated symptoms will gradually subside. Do consult Psychiatrist for further assessment and management.
management of individuals with anxiety and depression consist both pharmacological therapy and non pharmacological therapy depending on clinical assessment and severity , alone or both modalities may be used.
Non pharmacological treatment consist of
1. regular exercise
2. meditation and yoga will be helpful
3. stress management and stress releiving techniques may also help
