Brief Answer:
Around one month
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Health care magic.
Serindole can be removed at the rate of 25% every three to four weeks so it will take one month to go down to 8 mg per day.
For clarification
From the day 1 go to 12 mg per day and continue for four weeks.
From day 29 go to 8 mg and continue afterwards.
In this way the chance of withdrwal symptoms will be near nil and you will be able to go down to 8 mg per day.
I hope this answer you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for reverting back to me.
The withdrawal symptoms of sertindole include nausea, vomiting, headache and insomnia. Although these side effects set down during initial two weeks itself but there chance of flare up of psychotic symptoms remains there for more time. Four weeks is the minimum time we need to observe for recurrence of original symptoms for which sertindole was prescribed.
Now regarding the reduction of dose there are two options.
First take one tablet of 8 mg and another four mg thus making it 12 mg per day. I hope 8mg and 4 mg are available in your country. If no you can use three tablets of 4 mg strength.
In case that is not possible taking half tablet of 20 mg is option although it is slightly impractical as there is drastic reduction in dose of sertindole.
I hope this helps you further.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for my future patients.
