                                            Question : Dear doctor,
I am suffering with cervical spodylosis since last 2 years. Earlier there was problem between C5 and C6 and now the problem is between C6 and C7. In 2019 by doing traction along with medicine I got relief but now the spine surgeon suggested 20 days bed rest and called back to decide the surgey after CT scan. Due to nation wide CORONA issues I could not visit to doctor (Dr. Papaiya, Sr. spine surgeon at XXXXXXX hospital, Surat). The MRI report along with prescription is attached herewith.
Pl. suggest whether surgery is necessary or by other way we can cure this problem.
Due to this disease, I feel severe pain near left ear, left shoulder and left han up to palm.
Kindly review and reply.

Hi there,
Thanks for the query
Sorry, I wasn’t able to find any report attached to this question, Can you upload the scan reports using the upload reports / pictures options.
Usually things like traction and bed rest and not commonly practiced these days in modern times. They can be dangerous options.
Usually physiotherapy with TENS or SWD machine will give good relief along with precautions.
If no improvement , surgery may be a better option to relieve the compression of the nerve by removing the disc.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Thanks for sending the attachment.
I have reviewed your MRI report and it says you have significant compression of the nerves at C5-C6 and also C6-C7.
I would suggest if you have not undergone physiotherapy for 6 months then you can have a trial of Physiotherapy with SWD or TENS therapy and if no relief you may need surgery in the form of discectomy.
