Question : Hello. I am a 65 year old woman and have OAB but not the usual symptoms. I have a constant urge to go but nothing is in bladder. Have no leakage issue, etc - just uncomfortable urge and cannot go (or very little) All has been checked out physically - camera in bladder, gyno exam, many other tests - all looks fine. I have all the the OAB meds here - oxybutin, vesicare, and the new one Gemtesa. I have taken these meds off and on with no relief so far. Just wondering if u may have any suggestions as to how to get some relief. Thanks so much.

Brief Answer:
You need to take medication life long

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query.
Based on the facts that you have shared you have been diagnosed to have OAB and taken medication off and on but did not get satisfactory results.

At the outset let me state that OAB is very common in elderly women and one has to take combination of medications to get relief from symptoms

Please start taking combination of Solifenacin and Merabegrone 25 mg twice daily. You will need to take medication for 3-4 months to get relief and will need to continue with one tablet daily for rest of your life.

Thanks and Regards

First, thank u for your answer. I wish we had doctors such as yourself in my area. One important follow up inquiry. I have had a CAT and x-ray and diagnosed with uric acid stones (most small but one that is 1.5cm on right side). Urologist says none pose any obstruction at all. He suggests trying some meds to try to dissolve before having procedure done. Would like to get your opinion on the success rate of these meds actually dissolving them and any other suggestions u may have. Appreciate your feedback very much...

Brief Answer:
Take Allopurinol 100 mg daily.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up
Small Uric acid stones usually pass out with urine Since you have stone of 1.5 cms you will need to take Allopurinol 100 mg once Dailey and gradually increase it to thrice daily.
If the stone does not get dissolved you will need to undergo non invasive procedure of ESWL.

Thanks and Regards
