Suggestt Reatment For Urinary Frequency And Enlarged Prostate

Question: I just had a blood test and my serum creatine is 1.22 and eGFR is 67. I have to urine frequently and have had enlarged prostate.

The doctor I go to has put me on herbs (I think for kidney flush). I am wonderinng if an enlarged prostate can cause kidney damage and whether my doctor is not being complete with this?

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been frequency of urination and have been diagnosed to have enlarged Prostate and prescribed herbal medicines to flush the kidneys.

As regards your serum creatinine and GFR in absence of protein-urea one time estimation of Your Serum creatinine and GFR are not conclusive of any kidney disease and needs further tests and your levels are are well near normal range and nothing to be worried about

As regards diagnosis and treatment of urinary frequency and enlarged prostate please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Routine urine tests and Urine culture to rule out UTI.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis.
3) Serum PSA. .

Please take broad spectrum antibiotic like Cefexine twice daily along with alpha blockers Tomsulosin once daily This will help to reduce frequency of urination and urine flow.
