Question : Hello, I just went for a blood test a syringe was used for the withdrawal. Doctor inserted syringe plunger was fully depressed. while in my arm he retracted plunger no blood was found he then with syringe still inserted depressed plunger fully. this happened three times. am I at risk for embolism
Brief Answer:
There is no chance of Embolism
Detailed Answer:
Hi
If the needle has not entered the Vein, blood will not come.
Even if blood comes out after puncture, the clot is formed at the outer layer. If the Thrombus is present in the lumen of blood vessel only,it may lead to Embolism if it is detached.
Sometimes,,the vessel wall will seal spontaneously after small puncture.
Nothing to worry
Embolism will not occur in your case
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further
Wish you good health
Regards
