Question : Taking escitalopram for depression at 20 mg..Doesn't seem to be enough can i have my Dr. increase it to 25 or 30 mg.?
Brief Answer:
Increasing the dose would not help much.
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for using ask a doctor service
I don’t think increasing dose would help much. You are 80 and increasing the dose would only add to side effects. Escitalopram is used commonly in maximal dose of 20 mg and doses higher than that doesn’t cause benefits.
If you anxiety is persisting then talk with your psychiatrist and ask for augmentation with some other drug.
Thanks
