Bangalore water does not suit me? or could it be excess consumption (3-4 cups) of Green tea on a daily basis?
Please advise on ways to have whiter, healtier teeth.
Thanks for writing in.
I would like to tell you that there are various reasons of tooth staining like:-
-Poor oral hygiene
-Excess intake of food like blue berry & curry or drinks like tea & coffee
-Excess fluoride intake
-Intake of iron supplements
-tobacco chewing or smoking
-Medications that may include antihistamines, antipsychotics, and those used to control high blood pressure
-Wearing away of enamel due to excessive brushing or progressing age.
You need to rule out the cause & various tips for whiter & healthier teeth are:-
1. Brush your teeth regularly in proper method.
2. Remove any irritants if any which causes gingivitis.
3. Remove plaque mechanically using chlorhexidine mouthwashes, listerine or triclosan.
4. Use soft bristle toothbrush and dental floss.
5. Brush your teeth in back-forth and up-down motion.
6. Visit your dentist and get your teeth cleaned professionally to remove the subgingival plaque.
7. For whitening of teeth you may go various options like bleaching, bonding or veneers.
Hope, I have clarified your query. If any doubt, please feel free to ask.
