Question : Thank you, for the last 2-3 months I have developed a slight caugh and constant clearing of the throat. Along with this I have been spitting up what I thought was ordinary phlegm. I thought it was just allergies and that it would go away. It has not. In paying closer attention, I've noticed that it's a thick creamy substance that I spit up 20-30 times a day. I'm worried. Please advise...

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms seem to be related to post nasal drip.

This diagnosis is usually characterised by draining of mucus, down your throat and causing cough.

I suggest using an expectorant to relieve the cough such as Mucinex.

I also recommend using antihistamines like Loratadine 10 mg to help with postnasal drip.

You can take it for a week.

Saline nasal sprays can help moisten the nasal passages and reduce symptoms of postnasal drip.

I suggest you to drink liquids and use a humidifier at home.
