Question : This morning I had a renal ultrasound doppler test to check for renal stenosis. The report said no renal stenosis but said %E2%80%9Cmild renal cortical thinning, can be seen with medical renal disease%E2%80%9D. what does that mean?

Cortical renal thinning means that the amount of nephrons in the renal cortex has decreased.
The chronic renal disease has caused scarring on the renal cortex reducing the number of nephrons.
So the function of kidney is reduced.
