Question : Three years old kid with fever101... Gave calpol 5ml one hour before...fever not yet reduced.. Can we give meftal spas now??

No Meftal spas will not work, Do tepid sponging and give 3 ml more of Calpol

Thanks for being at 'Ask A Doctor' service.

I have gone through the details and do understand your concern.

Meftal spas contain Simethicon and dicyclomine. These are antispasmodic and used in abdominal discomfort. It doesn't help in controlling the temperature.
Meftal p contains mefenamic acid which is used in fever.

The dose of paracetamol(Calpol) is 10- 20mg/kg/dose(total 60mg/kg/day). Assuming the weight of your baby based on his age as 12 kg, you may give 3ml extra to see if it helps.

Do tepid sponging of the whole body it really helps.

If fever persists even after taking these measures, you may try Meftal p or visit a Pediatrician.
