Question : Today I noticed a dark red spot on my tongue that wasn%E2%80%99t there before. It does not hurt or anything. Should I be worried? I have attached a photo.

Its too early to say anything. Please check if you have any other symptoms like itching, burning sensation and keep taking pictures every week to see change in size. If stays same or diminishes in size then it can be due to thermal injury due to eating something hot. If any symptoms persists or it increases in size then you need to see oral surgeon.
