Question : Can a stool-packed colon mimic enlarged spleen (chronic pain and bulge upper left side), and wouldn't an abdominal ct scan be able to tell difference?
Brief Answer:
Clinical examiantion and CT scan are confirmatory
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
thanks for writing in.
Yes a colon full of stools can mimic a enlarged spleen to start with. However clinical examination will help in differentiating the two conditions.
Contrast enhanced Ct scan of the abdomen can clearly differentiate the two without any error .
I hope this answers your query.
