Question : Very congested 3 year old is drooling in sleep. The drool is foamy. She acts normal when woken up but has an infrequent very wet and heavy cough. Gave her a 0.5 ml dose of Benadryl before sleep.

Hii. From the symptoms you have mentioned it is evident that the baby is having adenotonsillar hypertrophy. It is the enlargement of adenoids and tonsils which is blocking the normal breathing. That is why patient is having drooling of saliva. Does the baby snore,has mouth breathing or choking spells at night. Do a X ray soft tissue neck to see adenoids. Start metaspray nasal spray. Take steam inhalation.Give syrup atarax to decrease allergy for 1 week. Please review with X ray.
