GERD or postnasal drip may cause these symptoms- details below
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service,
I carefully read your query and understand your concern.
Bad taste, neck soreness, and cough at night can be generally due to two main conditions. One would be GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease) and the other one is PND (postnasal drip).
I would advise you to take Omeprazole 40 mg 30 minutes before breakfast and Fluticasone nasal once a day.
You may need to eat frequent small amounts of food during the day (4-5 small meals instead of 2-3 big ones) and do not eat the last 3-4 hours before bedtime.
You can drink water or other fluids during the day but avoid drinking the last 3-4 hours before bed- this will reduce the acid reflux.
Avoiding alcohol, caffeine, energy drinks, sparkling drinks, and smoking is important.
You may choose to lift the head of the bed with bricks so you are not too horizontal when you sleep.
A good visit with the dentist would be advisable as well to check your gums and teeth, especially if you have not seen the dentist in the last year.
I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
