Want Interpretation Of Radiograph
Question: Please give me your interpretation of this radiograph.
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on XXXXXXX
This radiograph is of chest- posterio-anterior view.
The lung fields are showing multiple reticulo-nodular opacities.
The heart shadow and diaphragmatic domes are within normal limits.
The causes for reticulo-nodular opacities are:
1. Interstitial lung diseases (ILD)
2. Miliary tuberculosis
3. Brochioalveolar adenocarcinoma
5. Airways diseases may also produce such picture however, this possibility is less common than ILD
You need to get a HRCT to confirm ILD as next step.
Consult a pulmonologist for further workup.
If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer.

Obviously you can%27t tell me how advanced this is since you cannot diagnose it%3B However%2C I am curios if you could loosely give me an opinion if this seems like a %22bad case of something%22 for thosebeing 28-year-old lungs%3F
Hello and welcome again,
At the young age of 28, this is an advanced disease.
Is there history of exposure to dusts- inorganic or organic?
ILDs are commonly caused by exposure to dusts especially occupational exposure.
Miliary tuberculosis is another possibility.
However, tuberculosis is associated with weakness, loss of appetite, cough which may be blood stained, expectoration, fever, night sweats and other constitutional features.
Thanks

I have worked and lived with dogs and cats for 10 years. Also%2C a variety of harsh cleansers in workplace used to disinfect after animals. %0A%0AI have had some autoimmune issues in the past%2C including%3A Dermatomyositis%2FMixed connective tissues disorder%2C and have been treated by a rheumatologist before. I have not had insurance because I am student nurse%2C so i have not been in for 2 years.
Hello and welcome again,
There lies the cause of reticulo-nodular opacities on X-ray chest.
Mixed connective tissue diseases cause interstitial lung disease as an impotant complication.
The treatment of the underlying connective tissue disorder is the treatment of choice.
The treatment of the underlying disease process will halt the interstitial lung disease also.
In addition to a rheumatologist, you will need to consult a pulmonologist also.
Since, the treatment of both conditions is long, medical insurance will help you to bear the expenses.
Thanks
