Question : Welcome to 'Ask a Doctor'. Please type your question here... My daughter has Neurofibromatosis but it is very mild and has never had any problems. She is now almost 20 and in the last 2 years she has been dealing with anxiety and depression. Could this be caused by the disease?

Brief Answer:
Not related to neurofibromatosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
The anxiety and depression are not directly related to the neurofibromatosis. They are not caused by a certain lesion or mechanism of neurofibromatosis.
Possibly the inabilities and restrictions ( symptoms) that neurofibromatosis is causing to her make her feel anxious and depressed.
I can advise you to send her to a psychologist and start having psychotherapy .

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
