Went Am I Experiencing Episodes Of Euphoria Quickly Followed By Disjointed Thoughts Leading To Nausea And Confusion?

Question: I've been having what I call "epidsodes" of disjointed thought processes - all of a sudden my head is bombarded with fast, disconnected thoughts - snippets of TV shows, dreams, trying to remember people and how they connect to each other, parts of recipes, before I can grab on to one thought to process it, another one rushes in. The whole thing lasts maybe 10-15 seconds. It starts with a vague sense of euphoria, like something exciting is about to happen, goes through a phase of warmth all through my extremities, and finishes with a vague, fleeting nausea, as if I might throw up. Then I'm left with a feeling of agitation and upset because I can't figure out what is happening! Any ideas?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

This does not sound dangerous, so I wouldn't worry about it. It may be normal, migraine headache, a partial seizure, or simply anxiety about an otherwise normal thought process. One test you might get is an EEG from your neurologist, but otherwise I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for the reassurance, Dr. Sheppe.
I have not been prone to migraine headaches (I can remember only one time in my life where I had a debilitating headache, like 30 years ago); if this were related to that, wouldn't there be intense pain?

Do you think this could be some kind of hormonal or glandular issue? With the small sense of euphoria at the beginning, followed by warmth radiating to my extremities and the quick feeling of nausea, I wondered if it could be, like, a weird, unexpected release of adrenaline or endorphins or something along those lines?

Also, "a partial seizure" doesn't sound like something I should NOT be concerned about. Can you elaborate on that, please?

Detailed Answer:
It does not seem to be related to hormones.

It is highly, highly unlikely to be some kind of seizure, but you might discuss with your neurologist obtaining an EEG to rule out partial seizure, which, if diagnosed, is easily controllable and of course, not that serious.
