Question: What anxiety medications are safe during pregnancy? I am looking to get away from the Benzos, and try an effective medication that wont harm the baby. Also maybe an alternative to effexor as well.

Brief Answer:
Psychotherapy is best and safest.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

During pregnancy anti anxiety medicines are usually not recommended. These are shown to have teratogenic effects and SSRIs are safest. Psychotherapy and relaxation exercises are considered as the best. You can reduce the dosage and consult your psychotherapist regarding the same. Zolpidem is also considered as a safer option. Among the SSRIs, Fluoxetine is considered as safer option.

I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health.
