Brief Answer:
Combination antibiotic for some infection

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Metronidazole is basically an antibiotic for anaerobes bacteria and cephalexin is an antibiotic with both gram positive and gram negative coverage for cocci and bacilli bacteria. Their combination together increases the spectrum and helps in eradication of bacteria efficiently thats why they were prescribed together. Your doctor might be suspecting some infection focus for which he prescribed it.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and stay compliant to the meds. Dont forget to close the discussion please.

Can these be prescribed without being sexually active?

The metronidazole is a gel and the cephalexin is oral

Brief Answer:
Yes it can be prescribed, do as directed by your physician

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

Yes metronidazole can still be used as it is an antibiotic and can cover anaerobes. In gel form, its topical and cephalexin is oral. Adding good hygiene, good coital and toilet habits to it will make sure the infection clears completely and there is nothing to worry about.

I hope it helps.

Khan
