What Are Chances Of Pregnancy While On Infertility Treatment?

Question : Hi,
I am trying to conceive from past 5 months. My last period date was on 7th May , i took clomephene 50 mg from day 2 to day 6 and progynova 2mg from day 7 to day10. I ovulated on day 11 of the cycle. I also took progesterone test on day 21 and it came out 28 ng/ml. I missed my expected period date on 1st XXXXXXX but home pregnancy test came out negative. I was also taking susten 300 and ecosprin from ovulation day to OD+14 .Could you please suggest what are the chances of pregnancy this month?

Following is my reply

1. You have undergone good ovulation induction.

2. Treatment you received is right and progesterone seems to be fine.

3. All said and done the chances of pregnancy in such cycle is around 10 percent only.

4. Since you have missed period get serum beta hCG blood test to confirm pregnancy. It is more accurate than home pregnancy test.

Could you please suggest how is the possibility of pregnancy is 10 percent only? Is this due to any medicine ?

Hi,

The pregnancy in any cycle is only about 4 to 8 percent only. IUI has a chance of about 15 to 20 percent. IVF has success between 25 to 60 percent.

Since you have induced cycle the chance is around 10 percent.

I got my periods today. I have a 25 days cycle every month , in the last month ovulation happened on day 10 and day 11, my progesterone level 28ng is also fine then what might be the reason behind failure this month. Please suggest.

Hi,

Let me know if any evaluation is done. Following are important.

1) your tubal evaluation by HSG or laparoscopy.

2) Any hormonal blood tests like FSH, AMH.

3) Your husband's semen analysis.

These investigations throw more light on why it didnt work out.
