Question : 50 year old female, non-smoker who recently went for a PET scan for a lung nodule which came back as inflammation, however the below was documented. Can you please assist on letting me know what this means?
FINDINGS:
There are low level foci of hypermetabolism involving the relatively dense inferior fibroglandular tissues of the left breast demonstrating maximum SUV measurements of 4.9 and 2.7 respectively. This should be correlated with diagnostic mammography. [For comparison purposes, maximum SUV of the liver is 3.2 while maximum SUV of the mediastinal blood pool is 2.7.]
On the low dose, unenhanced CT scan performed for localization and attenuation correction purposes only, a prominent fluid density mass focus is appreciated within the left adnexal region centered at transaxial slice position -698.67 measuring 5.2 x 4.2 x 5.6 cm in greatest AP, transverse, and superoinferior dimensions respectively. Pelvic ultrasound is available in order to characterize this focus to better advantage and to determine whether this represents a simple cystic focus is a postal complex and potentially neoplastic one.

                                    Brief Answer:
PET scan shows density in breast and lesion in left ovary-need mammo & USG
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The PET scan shows presence of density in breast which needs to be evaluated by mammography.
A lesion is seen in left adnexa or left ovary.
This lesion needs to be evaluated and followed up.
A pelvic ultrasonography (USG) is suggested to assess this lesion in left ovary.
Thanks and take care.
