What Are Symptoms Of A Thyroid Growth?

Question: What are symptoms of a thyroid growth? I have a puffy area on my lower neck(base of neck) just below where a man's adam's apple would be. Just discovered it and will see MD if it is not gone in the morning. It may be an insect bite as it is itchy.
Brief Answer:
Itchy swelling
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is unlikely to be a thyroid growth as this puffy area is very recent in onset and the level is below adam's apple which is too low for thyroid swelling. Moreover thyroid growths are not itchy. You may face a mirror and swallow saliva, a thyroid swelling will move up as you swallow.
It could very well be an allergy called urticaria (Hives) or insect bite reaction. You have a feature to upload the images by yourself at the right side of the query page, please utilize that so that I can have a look at the rash. You can also send the image as attachment to YYYY@YYYY , with the subject as 'Attn: Dr. Johny Chacko'.
Hope this helped,
Take care.

Thank you so much! I feel better knowing it isn't a thyroid problem. It seems to be less puffy and diminishing in size. I will follow up with my primary care dr. if it doesn't completely disappear. I can't find the feature on the screen to send you a picture of it. I am using my lap-top only, do not have an I-phone, so no apps available to me. Diane PS There is no rash-never had a rash, just swelling.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome back,
You are welcome. Good that it is diminishing in size. In that case do not bother sending a picture. Rash is an umbrella term which I use for any lesion on the skin, I understand that it is a swelling. Sorry for that.
Take care and wish you good health.
